A. Classes are broken down into 6 levels plus a Parent Tot class.
i. The Parent Tot level caters to parents/guardians and children under the age of 3 years old. Through fun games and songs, the parent will learn how to enter and exit the pool safely with their child, proper holding techniques to begin the learn to swim process correctly and other teaching techniques to ensure their child has a wonderful first experience with swimming to instill the love of this lifelong activity. Infants must be at least 6 months old to participate. The class runs for 25 minutes Monday/Wednesday/Friday the first week and Monday/Wednesday the second week. We leave the last Friday of each session open for a full class make-up in case of a full class cancellation due to weather, a swim meet, or other pool closure.
ii. Level 1 Water Exploration – This is the first class children can take without mom or dad in the water with them. They must be at least 3 years old to enter the class. Children will begin to learn how to stay safe in the water on their own (this does not take the place of active guardian supervision!).
iii. Level 2 Introduction to Swimming – This class builds on the knowledge learned in level 1 and requires swimmers to be able to perform each of those skills independently. The skills they learn in this level provide the foundation to learning to swim safely on their own.
Prerequisite Skills: Swimmer must be able to get in and out of the water on their own, wall walk for 5 yards, bob 10 times, jump into the water with assistance, FULLY submerge head, front and back float with assistance, rollover between front and back float with assistance, and front glide.
